Installation Method(s)
For all solid hardwood flooring installations 360FLOORING.com recommends that you adhere the solid hardwood
flooring product to a wooden subfloor with either flooring nails or staples. A pneumatic nailer/stapler is
recommend to speed up the installtion process. We do NOT recommend using flooring glues as the primary
adhesion method for any solid hardwood flooring products. Glues can be used as a secondary adhesion method
to that of nailing or stapling. Glues are recommended for installation of all hardwood flooring products
greater than 6" in width. If you have installation questions please contact us or review our Hardwood Flooring Installation and
Maintenance Guides for further support.
Hardwood Flooring FAQ's
1. Why is my hardwood floor denting?
Hardwood contains a cell structure that if enough pressure
is applied, the cell wall will collapse and a dent will appear.
2. What happened when I moved my area rug and now the wood is lighter?
Wood goes through a natural aging process called patina
and sunlight aids in the process of this condition. It is best to move area rugs or other items from time to
time.
3. Can I wax my urethane floor?
Yes, but it is not recommended. Wax may repress the
adhesion of future applications of top coating materials or make it slippery. Once you wax a floor, it
should be managed as a wax finished floor.
4. Can hardwood floors be installed in the bathroom?
Due to the high moisture associated with bathrooms, it is
not recommended because it may cause improper conditions for hardwood flooring. But many popular design
choices welcome hardwood flooring into bathroom projects with the understanding that wood and water do not
compliment each other and a hightened sense of awareness is required in terms of cleaning and
maintenance.
5. Are color variations to be expected with hardwood floors?
Yes, no two boards are the same, so therefore you will see
variations from board to board.
6. Are hardwood floors difficult to care for?
Not so. In many cases, they are easier than carpet,
ceramic tile, laminate or vinyl.
7. How should the floor be protected from furniture?
Felt protector pads should be placed on the legs of all
furniture.
8. What should be used under area rugs?
Mesh or grid pattern padding works
best.
9. Should hot, soapy water be used when mopping the floor?
No, because water can age hardwood floors and cause them
to crack and split.
10. Can wood floors that are damaged be repaired?
Yes, there are touch-up kits that help with scratches and
if the damage is severe, individual boards may be replaced.
11. Should a finish be applied to prevent moisture from getting into the cracks?
Due to temperature fluctuations, sealing will only last
until the first heating or cooling season. The wood expands in the summer and contracts in the winter but it
is normal for the wood to go through this process throughout its life.
12. What is the best wood to use if there is a large dog present in the home?
Oak is probably sufficient because its heavy grain helps
to hide scratches, but as an extra precaution make sure your pets claws are trimmed and
filed.
13. How are buckled floorboards fixed?
Typically moisture is the cause of buckling floor boards.
Find the source of the moisture before any other steps are taken. You can remove the damaged boards or take
out the floor from where the damage starts and replace it to the wall.
14. Are problems with moisture to be expected?
It is important that the boards dry evenly because if not,
cupping or crowing can appear. Cupping and crowing is when water is trapped between the wood floor and the
subfloor.
15. Why is the floor loose and squeaky?
There are several possibilities that could result to this.
Inadequate nailing, flexing weak subfloor systems, insufficient or incorrect adhesives which could subject
the floor to excessive drying or moisture. Another possibility could be the low relative humidity that
comes along during low humidity seasons. Wait until higher humidity seasons to see if the squeaks are still
present.
16. Will the floor age or change in color?
Yes, it is only natural due to the ultraviolet rays of the
sun whether it is direct or indirect. The change is more noticeable in lighter colors than darker colors.
These changes are not covered by warranty.
17. Can I roll heavy furniture across the hardwood floor?
No. When moving heavy furniture across the room make sure
all surfaces are protected as to not damage the floor in any way.
18. How should the wood be handled prior to installation?
The room should not exceed temperatures of 72 degrees
if the is room heated. Never unload in the rain. If the area is damp, cover with a tarpaulin until it can be
unloaded. Never deliver or store unprotected flooring in rain, sleet or snow.

Limited Residential Flooring Warranties
The Warranties described below are given to the original purchaser only AND ARE SUBJECT TO THE PROCEDURES, LIMITATIONS, DISCLAIMERS AND EXCLUSIONS SET FORTH HEREIN. The Warranties cover only approved product applications as recommended by 360 FLOORING. This warranty only covers residential usage of the product. 360 FLOORING's solid, bamboo and engineered floors are manufactured in accordance with accepted industry standards, which permit a defect tolerance not to exceed 5% for #1 Common Grade wood, 10% for #2 Common Grade wood and 25% for Knotty Grade wood. The defects may be of a manufacturing or natural type. These allowances are not valid under this warranty and it is the owner's and installer's responsibility for all products installed. This warranty applies only to material, in excess of the allowed percentages, that is deemed to be defective. The conditions of this warranty shall only apply when proper installation procedures are followed. This warranty shall not apply to solid hardwood and bamboo floors which are installed in a basement, directly on a concrete slab, nor on an OSB (pressed wood) floor, nor in a room equipped with an in-floor radiant heating system. This warranty shall not apply to engineered floors which are installed in a room equipped with an in-floor radiant heating system.
Installer and Purchaser Responsibility
It is critical that all installations are done in compliance with the procedures outlined in 360 FLOORING's installation and maintenance instructions. Failure to install in accordance with the instructions and to properly maintain will void all warranties. No warranty coverage is provided for flooring that contains obvious defects of any kind that were installed nonetheless. It is the installer's and purchaser's responsibility to set aside pieces with visible defects and not use them. Make sure that the flooring meets the purchaser's expectations prior to installation. Likewise, it is the installer's and purchaser's responsibility to check that the moisture content of the uninstalled flooring is within the acceptable range that 360 FLOORING warrants of 6% to 9% prior to installation. The installer and purchaser are also responsible for ensuring that the sub-floor as acceptable moisture content and that the relative humidity conditions at the site are suitable (35% to 55% relative humidity) prior to installation. It is the installer's and purchaser's responsibility to inspect the flooring prior to installation and to install the floor in a random and harmonious mix, and with good workmanship. The 360 FLOORING warranty does not apply to claims made on pieces of flooring installed with color/grain variation and this warranty does not over poor workmanship by the installer. Once the flooring has been installed, the installer and purchaser have deemed the flooring acceptable and 360 FLOORING assumes no further responsibility for defects visible at the time of installation or moisture/humidity problems.
Lifetime Residential Structural Integrity Warranty:
360 FLOORING warrants that these hardwood, bamboo and engineered floors in their original manufactured condition, to be free from defects in material and workmanship including milling, assembly, dimension and grading for as long as the original purchaser owns the floor. Engineered floors are warranted against delamination (separation between piles) when installed in normal environmental conditions of relative humidity between 35% to 55%, and provided the flooring is not soaked in water either from above or below. A rich variety of natural wood characteristics such as knots, mineral highlights, pin holes, distinctive differences in color, and grain configuration provides the truest wood grain texture and detail that nature has to offer. These natural appearances are not construed as defects. Being a natural material, hardwood floors will react to humidity and temperature variations. In high humidity, wood picks up moisture and swells; in low humidity, wood releases moisture and shrinks. At some periods of the year, splits may temporarily appear between the boards. This phenomenon is normal and it is not covered by the warranty. 360 FLOORING floors must be installed in environments of 35%-55% relative humidity for coverage under the warranty and to prevent possible damage, such as excessive swelling and/or shrinkage or other movement, due to extreme dryness/humidity. Installation of a humidifier or dehumidifier may be necessary. The floor is designed to perform in an environmentally controlled structure.
A 25-Year Residential Finish Warranty:
360 FLOORING warrants to the original purchaser, under normal residential traffic conditions and with proper maintenance, that the pre-finished surface with Water Based Finish will not peel off or wear through for 25 years from the date of purchase by the original purchaser. Gloss reduction is not covered under the finish warranty since it is not considered wear through. It is important to note that a floor exposed to sunrays (ultraviolet light) or to an intensive lighting may alter in a subtle way the color of the floor. This is a natural reaction for wood floors which cannot be recognized as a finish default. The warranty does not cover such fading of your floor. It is recommended periodically to move area rugs in order to minimize the effects of ultraviolet light on your hardwood floors. Warranty excludes any scratches, dents, notches and any damages to the finish caused by lack of proper maintenance, negligence, inappropriate use of floors, fire, burns, excessive heat, cold, indelible liquids, water, moisture, erosion, external environmental conditions, accident, natural disaster, stones, sand, other abrasives and corrosive material, insect infestation, animals and domestic pets, theft, vandalism, sharp or blunt edge objects, excessive impacts, spiked heel shoes, crib and rocking chair, casters, insufficient protection in kitchen and under furniture, wet mopping or failure to follow all the manufacturer's written maintenance instructions. Use of floor care products other than those recommended by 360 FLOORING may damage your floor and may void the warranty.
Additional Warranty Disclaimers and Exclusions
In addiction to the above stated warranty disclaimers and exclusions, this warranty shall not apply to all of the following:
Water Damage to the flooring caused by broken or leaking pipes; Damage to the flooring caused by flooding, hurricanes, other natural disasters and Acts of God; Damage to the flooring caused by improper handling, shipping and storage; Installation of the flooring in an environment outside of the 35% to 55% relative humidity range; Installation of the flooring on a moist, damp, wet or leaking or otherwise unsuitable sub-floor; Improper alterations and maintenance of the original manufactured product; Failure to follow all the manufacturer's written installation and maintenance instructions; and no warranties shall apply to any product or products designed and sold as clearance or non-standard items. Any product or products so designated are sold "as is."
If in the unlikely event any portion of your floor should fail with respect to the provisions of these warranties, 360 FLOORING will replace (material only) such portion, at no cost to the original purchaser, with the same product or another product of equal value. To file a claim, please contact the authorized 360 FLOORING sales representative from whom the original purchase was made. Claims must also be filed within the warranty coverage period and receipt verifying date of purchase and the ownership of products will be required. 360 FLOORING warranties are not transferable and the warranties are valid ONLY if the owner can provide an original proof of purchase. 360 FLOORING reserves the right to have a designated representative inspect the floors and remove samples for technical analysis. No distributor, installer, retailer, agent or employee of 360 FLOORING has the authority to alter the obligations or limitations of any 360 FLOORING warranty.
