California Gold offers a very natural, earth toned assortment of colors. Green, brown, blue, gold, amber and more will be present throughout your project with California Gold. As with all natural slate the thickness may vary from tile to tile, generally between 3/8'' and 7/16'', but tile sizes can vary slightly beyond these ranges. The different size tiles and borders available with California Gold make designing very simple to create a great custom look for both indoor and outdoor applications.
This material ships via common LTL carriers and delivers to your home or jobsite. The delivery truck will have a lift gate available to safely unload your products to your home or job sites curb. Normal delivery times once your material has left one of our 15 nationwide warehouses is typically 2-3 business days.
Q. What is slate?
A. Slate is a fine-grained metamorphic rock. It’s main constituents are quartz, chlorite, mica & calcite. Slate is formed when ocean or riverbed sediments are compressed and heated by the earth's crust.

Q. Can slate be used outside?
A. Yes, slate has been used outside for hundreds of years. Make sure the proper adhesive and natural stone sealer is applied to produce the best results

Q. Is slate going to feel rough on my feet?
A. While slate does certainly have layers to it the overall feel is not a rough or sharp, but a very natural and comfortable flooring option for any room in your home.

Q. What type of grout should I use?
A. Use a sanded grout (1/8" to 1/2" grout joints) that matches the color tones of your tile for all of your slate tile projects

Q. Is slate resistant to damage?
A. Slate (and the other natural stones we offer) is highly resistant to damage as long as it is applied by the proper means. We strongly encourage you to work with a proper substrate for stability and use a quality natural stone sealer for surface protection.
